Atlanta Braves -105
(Listing Hudson)

You won’t find many chances to bet Tim Hudson of the Atlanta Braves at nearly even money all season. So we’re going to take advantage of this opportunity tonight as the Braves take it to the Rockies at Coors Field. Hudson has pitched brilliantly in his first two starts of the season, allowing just 9 hits in 13 inning of work, none of which have been home runs. Jeff Francis of the Rockies has allowed 12 hits in just 6 innings and 3 home runs in his first start of the season against Arizona. Atlanta’s lineup is much more potent than that of Arizona and Francis is in for another poor showing tonight. The Braves are scoring 5.6 runs on the season. Hudson is 37-7 (+26.0 Units) against the money line after a game where he did not walk a batter since 1997.

Oakland A’s +134
(Listing Eveland and Marcum)

Oakland is this year’s sleeper team in the AL West division and they have proven it to start the year with nice wins over the Red Sox, Indians and now the Blue Jays for a 5-4 start to the season. Dan Eveland picked up one of those victories and has a 1-0 record with a 1.29 ERA to start the year. The 24-year-old lefthander picked up a win last Saturday, allowing one run and six hits in seven frames while striking out seven. Shaun Marcum has had a hard time against the A's in his short career, allowing eight runs and 14 hits in 7 2/3 innings over two starts. Oakland is 14-5 (+13.1 Units) against the money line vs. an excellent bullpen whose ERA is 3.00 or better over the last 3 seasons. Toronto is 9-24 (-17.5 Units) against the money line in home games vs. AL teams allowing 3.7 or less runs/game on the season since 1997.

Detroit Tigers +129 (listing Robertson and Wakefield)

The Tigers finally broke into the win column yesterday. Now that they have that monkey off their back, I look for them to relax and start playing some high-caliber baseball. The Red Sox are struggling in the early going also, just 1-4 in their last 5 games. They are also just 1-4 in Wakefield's last 5 starts. Wake is a pitcher who is going to give up some runs and the Red Sox bats are not yet ready to support him adequately. The Tigers are 4-1 in Robertson's last 5 starts with 5 days of rest. I look for a well rested Robertson to pitch with confidence today coming off a team win.
